Year 2

Welcome to Year 2!

I am so pleased to be your teacher for this school year 2019-2020. My name is Miss Wharmby and the wonderful Teaching Assistant working with us is Mrs Clarke. We have high expectations in Year 2 and want to achieve the best we possibly can, whilst having some fun along the way!

This is our first half term of the new year and our topic is 'The Place Where We Live'. We will be looking at our local area in our Science, History and Geography lessons. In English we will be reading 'The Hodgeheg' by Dick King Smith and then writing our own stories related to this one. In Maths we will be looking at and developing our understanding of number and place value.

Please Remember:

  • Reading books are to be returned daily, it is so important that children read every night and their record is signed by a parent or guardian to show this.
  • Homework will be given out on Friday and needs to be returned the following Friday.
  • Library books are changed on a Tuesday.
  • Your child needs a full PE kit in school at all times. P.E. lessons will take place on a Tuesday with Mrs Rogers.
  • Please ensure all uniform and water bottles are labelled with children's full name.

If you have any questions about your child or their learning, please do not hesitate to contact myself or Mrs Clarke. I will be on the yard to collect your children and return them at home time. If you need to discuss something more in depth then I am more than happy to arrange a meeting after school at a mutually convenient time.

Thank you,

Miss Wharmby

Let's check

Do you know our school values, and do you know where to find them in our classroom?
